Schools Rice and Pasta Drive

The Feed Melbourne Appeal raises funds and collects food donations to support people struggling to put food on their table.

We are asking schools across Melbourne to help support us by participating in a Rice and Pasta Drive during May as part of the Feed Melbourne Appeal.

While rice and pasta are a staple in most pantries, many food relief charities simply cannot get enough to accompany nutritious and filling meals or to add to food hampers provided to people who are going hungry.

Participating in the Rice and Pasta Drive is very easy. You will need to register your school through our registration form. Once you are registered, we will send you an email which includes some information and a flyer to help you promote the Rice and Pasta Drive to your school families. You can also download the flyer here and put it up around your school or include in your school newsletter, promoting your participation in the Drive.

Families can then simply visit their nearest Woolworths store or local supermarket and buy a packet of rice or pasta, which students then bring into school. You can ask students to bring in their rice or pasta on a set day in May or across a week – which ever works best for your school. We will be collecting rice and pasta from schools on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon between 1-3pm – you can book your preferred date when you register your participation.

If your school would prefer to encourage students to bring in a gold coin donation or run a fundraising event for the Feed Melbourne Appeal instead of participating in the Rice and Pasta Drive, you are most welcome to do so and can make an online donation here.
