Across Victoria there are more than 500 charities providing food relief to men, women and children in their communities. Many of these are run by volunteers. Many run on a small budget comprising donations from their supporters.
Fortunately more and more businesses are offering charities their surplus quality food. However, many of these agencies simply do not have the means to collect, store, cook, serve or distribute this food to the people they support.
Each year FareShare, Leader Community Newspapers and the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation provide Feed Melbourne grants of up to $10,000 to dozens of Melbourne charities. These grants aim to give local charities the capacity to support people going through hard times in their communities.
We also distribute a handful of grants to Victorian rural and regional charities each year.
Applications for 2013 grants are now open. Applications close 5pm Tuesday 9 April 2013.
Grant recipients will be notified in May.
Charities must be registered with the Australian Taxation Office as Deductible Gift Recipients. Please ensure that your organisation has DGR Item 1 and TCC status.
To apply for a grant, please complete an online application form.
